Garage Conversions
Converting a garage is one of the easiest ways of getting extra space in your home, without adding an entire room. By taking care of waterproofing, opening up windows and bringing up a wall, you can convert your garage into a bedroom or family room. Remember, that a garage conversion will include electric and plumbing work, and installation of heating and cooling systems. You can also create additional storage space to continue using your garage to hold seasonal items and materials, household and gardening tools etc.
When you plan your garage addition, make sure you have a clear picture of what you want to use your garage for. For instance, if you're looking to convert your garage into a home theater, expect additional expenses on electrical wiring to support the new system. If you're converting your garage into a kitchen, plumbing and electrical fixtures will be needed. A garage kitchen addition will involve the installation of heavy duty appliances like deep freezers, and these may demand additional wiring requirements. Always remember to include a small storage closet in your garage to be used for storage.
Before beginning your garage addition project, make sure you have all necessary Las Vegas, NV area building permits in place. Some areas may not allow garages to be used for certain purposes. I have a bathtub/shower combo with some cabinets directly abover it making for a very enclosed space that I would like to completely redo. I envision having the cabintes above the shower/tub gutted and then a new shower/tub with nice large tile and new faucet/shower fixtures and a couple of recessed lights placed in above the bathing space.
